Lately, we've been to Maison&Objet 2018 during the Paris Design Week, where among the phenomenal number of booths, we walk along the alleys with an eye open, in search of young and emerging gems of design...

Here is the selection of this edition 2018:

It's been a while since we've been following Morgane's work, founder and designer ofATELIER AVÉUS. For her new collection, Onto the Road, Into the Night, the designer has led her reflection on the wait, adapting in a visual and formal way the notion of loneliness at the same time felt and desired during this pivotal space-time. She presented a double seat, a wall sconce and a room divider with heavily contemporary lines. Images by Six N ' Five!

Recently highlighted in the press during her remarkable visit to the Beirut Design Week, the French and Lebanese designer CARLA BAZ has presented her work to Maison&Objet 2018 in the section reserved for emerging Lebanese designers. With a certain appeal for the work of matter through ancestral know-how, the designer creates novelty from what has become conform. Thus, allied with a resin surface, the designer gives marble a second breath with her coffee tables series Minerals. As for wall sconces Oysters, they combine sophistication and minimalism with real elegance.

CASEY LURIE is a American designer based in Chicago, and who last year embarked on the challenge of creating a new shelf concept every day. It is by concentrating on the fact of neutralizing the effect of lateral swaying which happens really often to that type of furniture, that the designer gave birth to most of his designs. To participate in Maison&Objet 2018, and coming from Chicago, he has set himself the goal of creating removable and foldable models. Find out EDS 7, 13 and 101 whose inspiration probably comes from some forms of the Memphis movement, and we really like this! Go America!

The French designer CLEMENT BRAZILLE has shown his Travertine Stone collection, made in Italy by the Ateliers Romeo, whose obvious contrast between lightness and hardness gave rise to several very successful pieces. Indeed, a coffee table, a desk and a console are consecutively taking shape before our eyes, thanks to the travertine which is machined into 5cm diameter tubes and then resinated, and it's of incredible strength and beauty. A collection that litteraly stands out, both by its finesse and by the wise eye of the designer. Nice work.

Created by two sisters and Danish designers in 2016 in Copenhagen, IKON KØBENHAVN offers ceramic furniture – and sometimes in limited edition – that wants to be simple but singular, functional but very graphic. Made by hand in their studio, the Thorgaard sisters are constantly trying on new colors, in order to evolve their creations over time, always with the aim of creating the extraordinary...

Studio KOKOT offers interesting work on the boundary between design and art, and raises the question of the real functionality – or not – of each object. During Maison&Objet 2018, we've been able to see the Sinchair, which is, for example, the metaphor of the incompatibility that can be felt between the precepts of a religion and the body as well as the human nature. Sculptural and more literal, the floor lamp Lum plays with materiality and transparency in order to illuminate effectively but also skilfully...

MARC DIBEH is a designer who is also part of the Lebanese section. Whether for low tables Ciao Alessandro! or the Meridienne, the designer likes to play with appearances, giving on one side the impression of a printed and zoomed pattern – while it's really about stone – and on the other hand, the sensation of a seat floating in the air thanks to a mirror base... A very interesting formal work.

it's by randomly going to the Hall 5 of Maison&Objet 2018 that one came across the studio ODDNESS and its incredible side tables, called Crumplezones... In fact the series is name from the crumpled metal effect obtained for example in a car accident. This effect is made by pressure, therefore has a dimension both voluntary and also spontaneous, giving irreparable birth to a pleasant design.

PHOLC is a Swedish lighting editor that make a very noticed entry to the European market this year. With a philosophy focused on highlighting the spirit, the know-how and the Scandinavian design, the brand responds to a lot of expectations in terms of simple and sophisticated lighting fixtures with its ranges Apollo, Mobile and Pearl. An in-depth search for the concept of aesthetics that certainly appeals to us.

Based in Berlin, the STUDIO B SEVERIN brings to design the narrative he deserves. Indeed, the studio is not stingy with poetry and we can find the notion of evolution or even transformation in all their projects. For example, the lighting Alteration is able to change color of the light it emits by changing the disc in the refractor, when the mirror Impressionism does not really reflect reality, but rather a dreamlike dimension of it. Very nice work.

It is rare and really interesting to see the products of a Thai design studio in Europe. It is therefore with the greatest interest that we discovered the booth of THINKK STUDIO, which we can say about their small glass side tables Flutted that they are without hesitation our crush of this edition. It is with great finesse that THINKK Studio designs its objects and furniture, and brings as much delicacy in shape to a mirror as to a vase or even a coat rack... Loving it!
