The collection presented on the booth ofAtelier de Troupe is as usual, minimalist and refined. Indeed, the design ofA de T is in some ways the ambassador of the less is more, offering each time a fair balance of forms, guided by an aesthetic monochrome and clean. Formally recalling the work of the lineage of modernist and anti-ornamental architects from the early twentieth century (Richard Neutra, Rudolf Schindler, etc.), the work of the studio established at Los Angeles offers quality products with impeccable finishes. We appreciate the pieces presented on AD Design Show, such as the Champion table lamp, the small Meso side table and the Miro pendant, that can be described as modest and luxurious at the same time. To discover on Booth 615.

From March 22 to 25, 2018, the MADE section of the AD Design Show is the place to go to discover the best of American design and novelties.

AD Design Show 2018 is an opportunity for Brecht Gander, designer of . Birnam Wood Studio to present some new pieces of work: first, in collaboration with Suna Bonometti, we discover the extra table U & I, composed of two complementary shapes to form a balanced whole, with a lacquered car-paint finish that makes the surprise, as well as the series of aluminum vase Odes to the Wrong Angle. Then, there is the concrete cabinet Homemaker's Wardrobe, which, halfway between comfort and discomfort, gives us both the desire to come into contact with this unusual façade, and at the same time asks us about the actual accessibility of the object... Designers like to have no limit on the material to work. Their work is between experimentation and design of unique pieces in limited quantities. Have a look on Booth M305.

Christopher Prinz is a designer based in Omaha, and represented in New York City by the Patrick Parrish Gallery. His work is to give life to the so-called "cold" materials like steel, copper and nickel, offering them a new perspective, and allowing them to renew themselves to our eyes. Indeed, its incredible Wrinckled collection gives us to see the metal in a new light, thanks to a technique of vacuum fabrication, these "wrinkles" allowing confusion with a more fragile material like cardboard for example. And yet, the work of the designer is indeed massive, solid and catches one's eyes... Booth M505.

AD Design Show, MADE section: the place to go to discover the best of American design

Studio Coil + Drift having made its debut in 2015 at the AD Design Show, it is obviously essential to find it there. Based in New York City, the studio is the result of the work of John Sorensen-Jolink, who became a designer by using intelligently and delicately his notion of space and contact with matter through his dancer and choreographer's gaze. For this edition of MADE, he presented his collection which became perfectly recognizable including new features, like the majestic Soren Chair fully dressed in black, the floor mirror June, a credenza and a double pendant fixture.

In order to present its novelties, the studio collaborated with the director Charlie Schuck by creating Unconscious forms, a short movie about our relationship to objects and our way of moving in a space, also paying homage to the world of dance... Booth M312.

From the 22 AD Design Show, MADE section: the place to go to discover the best of American design March 25, 2018, the MADE section of the AD Design Show is the place to go to discover the best of American design and novelties.

In this edition of MADE, I also had the pleasure of meeting Facture Studio, born of an encounter between Shoba the artist, and Quincy the designer. The two companions present the collection Shift, unique and singular, which can only captivate. Indeed, in wanting to make the difference on the show, the duo managed to create the event thanks to their mysterious pieces made up of colorful resin, allowing a smooth and pleasing result to the touch, fascinating to the eye. The approach of Shoba and Quincy tends to bring a new aesthetic according to their point of view, but especially to create products where art and design finally meet, and where the beautiful joins the useful. A real crush!! Booth M211.

Kin & Company is a design studio based in Brooklyn and comprised of a dynamic duo between the cousins Joseph Vidich and Kira de Paola. Their new collection is undoubtedly a deepening of the sculptural and massive style that one knows them, with a new version of their series Thin, in purple lacquered finish. The impact of the entire collection is clearly notable, with a beautiful partnership made with Wallpaper Projects for the staging of their booth, which only makes more value to the strong materiality of the Geo table and the Slipwall mirror. In addition, the duo collaborated with Kim Markel for the design of the luminaire Phase Pendantwhich gives to see a very beautiful and complete collection, to be discovered during this AD Design Show, booth M219.

It is always nice to see design pieces in real and finally be able to touch what we've watched dozens of times in pictures... This was the case with the work of the studio Peg Woodworking, presenting the work of designer Kate Casey, which we discover incredibly well adapted to today's morals and to the space and extremely well done. Using the weaving technique especially inspired by Scandinavian design, Kate gives a second breath to a traditional know-how – even ancestral – in order to reintroduce it elegantly in our daily life by associating it with furniture, to adapt it even better in our visual age. Find out the bench and the coffee table Satet as well as the Freya chair on Booth 202.

The Quebec designer Simon Johns is inspired directly by its natural surroundings to create pieces of furniture. Indeed, his work is the result of the search between massive and heavy elements, and others on the contrary very light, all inspired by the river, a cliff or even plants. Thus, during this edition of AD Design Show, we can discover a black top version of the duo of low tables become famous Missisquoi - in homage to the name of the river near his workshop -, but also an incredible handmade work on the cabinet and the coffee table Shale, imitating the natural relief of stone in the raw state... Brother and sister Miles and Molly are the two souls of the duo behind Spadone Home. Their collections are inspired by great movements that have marked the past (Brutalism, Memphis Movement, Art Deco), while intelligently putting on the front of the stage the geometric and graphical forms that are the key markers of our visual age. Miles and Molly have developed and manufacture each piece by hand, in the interests of quality and respect for the know-how passed on by their parents. The new collection presented on this edition of MADE is in line with the excellent sculptural and futuristic design they master, including the Walkabout Bowl, Zag Zig Vase, Vent Vessel and Cône Rise. Find them Booth M320!

The MADE of the AD Design Show also presents the work of Robert Sukrachand, a photographer who has become a designer, and whose study of reflection in general overtakes in his work. Indeed, one has well in mind his mirror series Gem presented in 2015, which blurs the notion of reflection by a geometric aspect more dedicated to space than individual. This year, we discover a new mirror approach with the piece Cyc, which again opposes the concept of functionality of the mirror and the somewhat "rugged" form that makes it take the designer... In addition, Robert Sukrachand presents the collection Torus, comprised ofa coffee table, an extra table and a console, graphic, which surprises to the touch by the contrast between the different sensations felt in contact with glass surfaces but also in microsuede... A very good work to fully appreciate on booth M201.

AD Design Show, MADE section: the place to go to discover the best of American design

Studio The Principals creates architectural elements between furniture and object. This year, their new collection called Prism Planters, is inspired by the modular constructivismes of the 1950s and 1960s. Their very elemental geometry allows them to be similar to fractal figures, i.e. that one can assemble and reproduce infinitely. The plurality of anodized aluminum facets associated with the living organisms that are the plants gives the Prism Planters a dynamic and singular aura, effective to stand out in 2018. This edition also allowed me to finally meet a compatriot living in DC, Trey Jones Studio! The designer and founder of the studio Trey Jones works to create well-thought out furniture and objects, whose specific design tends to facilitate the use that we make of each element. He offers an elegant and efficient aesthetic and reflection by never forgetting to highlight a functional detail in his work. So on AD Design Show, we can discover the Portrait Mirror, which between classical and conceptual references also offers a much appreciated shelf part in an entrance. The Landscape Credenza is a convenient and well thought out furniture element, between removable shelves and a sloping marble display stand to display our most valuable book... Meet Trey, booth M908.
